Beaches - Losinj
If you are truly keen on swimming and a beach-lover, then the Island of Losinj and its neighbouring islands are your ideal destination. The archipelago is rich in different types of beaches and it offers you the chance to hunt for new pearls in the Adriatic Sea every single day! As usual, we'd like to give our precious advice to the customers of our agency: the best way to know our island deeply is to spend each day on a different beach!
Losinj is the eleventh island in the Adriatic Sea in terms of dimension and it is 33 km long. Question: can you imagine how many beaches fit in 33 km? Answer: many of them. And to make everything even more interesting, we should add that all of them are handy and easy to reach on foot, by bike, by boat, by car and even by bus!
The Island of Losinj typically presents rocky and pebbly beaches leading to the sea. You may choose among the many equipped beaches that are particularly suitable for families with children; they offer a wide range of services especially designed to make your stay on the beach very comfortable, such as the small cafés where you can have a morning or afternoon break while sipping a cup of coffee, small restaurants where you can have an ice-cream of fast food (we all know that the same makes people hungry!), toilets, deckchairs and beach umbrellas. Some beaches are provided with a lifeguard service and they are marked with a Blue Flag.
But maybe you prefer discovering our natural untouched beauties and appreciating the stillness of isolated bays with crystal water? No problem. Our 33 km long coast has got many surprises in store also for you. Have a look at the map of pedestrian and bike paths and you'll certainly find some little hidden bay to explore!
Bicycle is a great solution to reach the beaches, mainly because you can jump off the saddle at any time and arrive at one of the beautiful lookouts, get your breath back in the proximity of any cove, have a bath in a small bay, wherever you like...! At our agency you'll find a rent-a-bike offering bicycles especially designed and made to give the higher comfort during excursions to women, men and boys older than 14.
However, the best mean to hunt the most hidden treasures of our island is boat. Let the pleasure of the open sea and the breeze in your hair enrich your days on the beach. If you don't have a marine license, hire a skipper and you'll likely have the chance to hear some stories on our island from one of our expert sea dogs.
We'd like to remind great adventurers, always seeking for new challenges (and new beaches, too!) that Losinj is part of the archipelago enclosing the islands of Cres and Losinj as well as many other islets - many of them are even uninhabited. Visit them all during one of our one-day excursions!
